Choosing your fish

The kind of fish that you would like to have in your tank is one of the most important decisions that you should make before you buy anything. There are so many different shapes, sizes and temperments of fish that a some research is necessary to make this decision. In fact, it's not a bad idea to make a trip to your local pet store to look at all of the different kinds of fish.

However, a word of caution about talking to those working in pet stores - not everyone who works in these places is knowledgable about how to properly setup and maintain a fish tank. Remember that their first priority is to sell you something regardless of whether it is the right thing to spend your money on.
