MIT 522 Technology Implementation Plan

MIT 522 is a course that examines the planning and management of successful training, professional development, and
technological projects in public or private schools. Areas of study include planning and developing technology projects,
evaluating and analyzing school or district capacity and readiness for a new technology project, organizing and managing
human resources and support systems, scheduling, budgeting, team structures, defining project requirements, and quality
assurance. My role in the course was to use the knowledge gained from topic discussions to develop an implementation
plan for a particular school.

For the course project, I worked with one another student to develop a plan for implementing Palm-Pilots (PDA’s) into the
curriculum at Noble Middle School. The initial plan focuses on use in sixth grade curriculum, with long-term plans of eventual
implementation into the entire school and school system. The project involved determining the client, establishing a relationship
with the client, analyzing the school environment for determining the infrastructure needs and project requirements, developing
communication systems, and developing an overall plan to meet the project requirements and assuring quality.

I have included the entire implementation plan and all of its components as they relate to the domain competencies of
instructional technology.

Domain of Utilization
Competencies
Artifacts
Rationale for Inclusion
Promote the diffusion and adoption of the instructional development process
Select strategies appropriate for promoting the diffusion and adoption of the instructional development process in a given setting and state a rationale for the strategies
The purpose of the plan was to implement technology change within an organization which required the ability to promote the diffusion and adoption of the proposed change.
Demonstrate a knowledge of the laws and regulations which govern the selection and utilization of media/emerging technology, including copyright, censorship, State Board Regulations, Local Board Policies, etc.

The implementation plan considers the laws and policies in the school system chosen.

The competencies allowed the ability to cater the proposal towards meeting the competencies.
