About Me

My name is Amanda Hodges, and I will be graduating in December 2006 with a Masters of Science in Instructional Technology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. In 2002, I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with a minor in History.

I began my career as an elementary school teacher and through this position became the staff technology trainer for North Topsail Elementary School in Hampstead, NC. The technology trainer position provided me the opportunity to design and develop staff development programs in technology that I implemented within the school. I also received a grant from the Jones-Onslow Cooperative.

My interest in Instructional Technology began during my undergraduate career when I took education classes related to the field. However, my true interest developed when I was teaching and constantly looking for ways to improve my instruction through the use of media and other resources. Additionally, as I began working in the technology trainer position my interest expanded to training applications and I began looking deeper into the business field for ideas to improve educational training.

I began my graduate career in the fall of 2004 as a part time student. In 2005, I chose to continue teaching in addition to attending graduate school full-time. During the summer of 2006, I made the decision to leave K-12 education and move into the higher education field and accepted a position at Cape Fear Community College as an Administrative Technician in the Instructional Operations and Distance Learning Departments. This position has allowed me to apply my skills in Instructional Technology in new ways.

Because of my experience both within the Instructional Technology program and in my positions as a teacher, technology trainer, and administrative technician, I am ready to start my full-time career in Instructional Technology with confidence in my ability to design and develop instruction and resources as well as manage, facilitate, and evaluate implementation of programs. I feel that my skills in Instructional Technology will be a positive addition to any business or higher education setting.
