Perceptions

The perception principles that I used as guidance while building this tutorial include figure/ground, hierarchy, and gestalt.

• Figure/Ground: I made sure to present the information in such a way as to draw the learner's attention to the most important information. I also made the edges of my visuals and text hierarchy distinct to help the learner select the relevant information from the page.
• Hierarchy: I used graphical cues such as varying the size and boldness of the text to help the learner organize the information appropriately. I also designed different buttons for the navigation and subnavigation to indicate a hierarchy.
• Gestalt: I tried to adhere to gestaltian principles by keeping page scrolling to a minimum and also kept the overall layout of the pages the same to help the learner integrate the information into the larger context of aquarium ownership.
