Information Management

Since Information is available in many formats a manager makes certain that the information is available in a format that is
appropriate for the end users. In addition to looking at information from the end users’ perspective, information handling has
to be approached from a technical perspective as well. This would include storing, transferring, and processing the information
( AECT, 2001).

Information management requires knowledge of technical components and capabilities of technological devices, and
understanding of how to handle and maintain hardware and software and software for use. As projects are designed and
move into the development stages, it is important to recognize the technology requirements for the proposed delivery methods
as well as the technical requirements of the equipment available. The manager’s abilities go back to the ability to manage
resources. In this case the resources are the information systems within the organization. Proper security measures as well as
data loss prevention procedures must also be in place. Once the information is secure, the process and product and move
into its usability phase and the desired outcome can be achieved.
