Resource Management

The ability to manage resources increases the success of precise implementation. Resources typically refer to financial resources, materials, and personnel. The ability to identity the correct resources necessary to complete tasks at certain phases of the process is an essential trait. When designing instruction, the budget can be a key factor in determining the delivery strategies and methods because it would be pointless to design something that could not be afforded. At the same time, a good instructional designer will be able to manipulate the budget of their project and work to get the desired tasks necessary for optimal performance. Financial resources will then allow for gathering necessary materials and needed personnel. In many situations, the personnel may already be considered a budgeted item for the project, and therefore the role of the instructional technologist/designer is to determine the skills of human resources and delegate duties accordingly.
