Articles 10 & 11
ARTICLE X – ELECTIONS
Section 1. Annual elections of officers shall be held in September, or the second month of the new academic calendar year, whichever comes first, on a date set by the Executive Committee and posted on any website or other communications media regularly maintained by the OCF at least one month in advance of the election.
Section 2. Nominations for Executive Committee Members shall be done at least two weeks in advance of the election during a general meeting. Only Voting Members may nominate and be nominated. Those nominated must have been a member in a previous semester and may accept or refuse the nomination.
Section 3. The election of officers and other Executive Committee members shall be by secret ballot. A simple majority of those casting votes (including abstaining votes) is required. If on the first ballot no candidate receives a simple majority, then there will be a runoff between the top two candidates. The voting will continue until one candidate receives a simple majority.
Section 4. The term for the elected officers and other Executive Committee members’ positions shall be one academic school year. The elected officers and other Executive Committee members’ term shall begin immediately following the election.
Section 5. Whenever a vacancy in an officer or other Executive Committee position shall occur, the President may fill the vacancy by appointment, with the appointee to serve until the vacancy is filled by an election of the membership arranged by the Executive Committee at its next meeting.
Section 6. Contact information for all new officers must be submitted by email [info@ocf.net] to the North American Orthodox Christian Fellowship office within 7 days of election and to UNCW’s Student Organization Management website.
Section 7. An officer may be removed from office by a three-fourths vote of quorum at any meeting after the Secretary has sent notice of the proposed removal to all members of the OCF-Wilmington at least ten days before the meeting is scheduled. Recall proceedings may be initiated by a written petition signed by ten percent of the Voting Membership stating the reasons why such recall is desirable.
ARTICLE XI – AMENDMENTS
Amendments to this Constitution or its By-Laws may be proposed by written petition signed by ten percent of the membership, and approved by a three-fourths vote of quorum after the Secretary has sent notice of the proposed amendment to all members of the Fellowship at least ten days before the meeting scheduled for this purpose. All amendments to this constitution also shall be subject to the approval of the North American Orthodox Christian Fellowship.
