Context and Conditions

These multimedia components were developed for MIT 511: Multimedia Design and Development in the fall of 2002 under the direction of Dr. Edna Mory. The culminating project of this course was a business web site.  Included in the web site were several other multimedia creations including an original animated graphic and video.  The projects were completed individually using MS FrontPage, Adobe Photoshop, IMovie, and Adobe Premiere.

Scope

The final project included designing and developing a Web site for a business.  I designed and developed graphic images to include in the web site.  I created animation and original graphics for the site using Adobe Photoshop and original photos.  I planned and produced a video using IMovie and Adobe Premiere.  It can be downloaded from the web site and played using Real Player Software.  I developed the web site using MS FrontPage and edited the HTML code to include JavaScript for the rotating images on the site.  It took one semester for all products to be complete and I worked individually on all products.

Role

I assumed the role of producer, director, cameraperson, and editor of the video editing project.  I also edited graphics and became a web developer for the web site.

Reflection

I gained experiences in using various software for creating original graphics, animations, edited sounds, web sites, and digital movies. I learned how to manipulate and edit HTML code and how to insert JavaScript to produce a more dynamic web site.  As a producer of a video, I had to map out a detailed storyboard for the video plan.  I learned how to use two different software programs for editing movies.  I also had to coordinate with a local business and arrange for a time to set up and start filming for the video.  My husband, Christopher, and a colleague of his participated in the shooting of the video.
