Telling Time in Spanish

Telling Time in Spanish (PowerPoint)

Context and Conditions:  The project, Telling Time in Spanish, was designed and developed as a requirement for MIT 514, DistanceEducation. The project was completed under the guidance of Dr. Jennifer Summerville in the summer of 2005.  The purpose of the project was to demonstrate our skills in the design and development of a lesson plan that would be delivered in a distant learning environment.  This group project was completed in five weeks.  No budget was allotted to this project.

Scope:
The project was designed to teach how to tell time in Spanish.  The instructional materials were developed using Microsoft PowerPoint.  The lesson was delivered via the education building to the UNCW library.  Along with lesson plan, a Plan B was created if, by chance, the technology was not functioning properly.  We also were asked to evaluate other teams’ projects.  I currently use this lesson as a resource in my Spanish I class.

Role:  My roles within this project included instructional designer, instructional developer, and subject matter expert (SME).  As an instructional designer and developer, I collaborated with my teammates in creating appropriate materials that could be effectively delivered.  As a SME, I critiqued the content to ensure no grammar and spelling mistakes were made.

Reflection:  MIT 514 was my first graduate class, therefore exciting, challenging, and a bit overwhelming.  I was very fortunate to work with two veteran students who provided me with helpful guidance and advice throughout the course.  If I could change anything within the project, I would alter the colors used within the PowerPoint.
